Here are some quick hits from Tuesday at Valley Ranch...

* CB Terence Newman participated in all of practice for the first time and produced an interception in his second day back. He will not play Thursday but expected to be ready for the Cleveland opener.

* Rookie CB Mike Jenkins will get a chance to return kicks against Minnesota. Maybe he can show something as the Cowboys want to avoid using Felix Jones/Pacman Jones there. One of those two could be returning kicks in the opener vs. Cleveland.

* Rookie DE Marcus Dixon will play in his first preseason game against the Vikings. He has missed all three preseason games with a back injury. He said he has been held out as a precaution because of swelling around his spinal cord.
