"We stopped ourselves."

That’s what Donovan McNabb said. There have been a lot of games when Dallas players said the same thing after a loss - mostly last year. Most of the time, it's just making excuses, and trying to convince yourselves that you didn't really get beat; that you were really the better team.
That's not to say that the game might not have had a different outcome if not for the following:
- A missed FG
- A turnover in the red zone
- QB overthrows an open receiver deep for a sure TD
Philly will point to all three of those things as "points left on the field," but that's just selective memory, and here's why: all three of those things also happened to the Cowboys on Sunday. And if they hadn't, it might have been 41 to 0 instead of 24 to 0. Or 31-17. Or 24-10. Or whatever.
All teams miss some plays here and there. All players make mistakes here and there. That's how football games go. On Sunday, the Cowboys managed to overcome their mistakes, and the Eagles did not. They didn't stop themselves - the Cowboys were simply the better team.
All that is not to say the Eagles can't win this week. Of course they can. Any NFL team can beat any other, and I still believe what I said before the last game: these two teams are pretty evenly matched.
But the Eagles did not stop themselves last week. The Cowboys stopped them, and the more they try to convince themselves otherwise, the less prepared they will be for the next game.

In other words, if "ifs" and "buts" were candies and nuts, the Eagles still would've lost...
(Apologies to Don Meredith...)
